Richardson, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A fire heavily damaged Richardson City Hall on Monday. An electrical fire in the first floor Human Resources Department greatly impacted many city services. In addition to causing significant smoke and water damage, the fire also impacted the systems that control the City’s phone, online payment, and other services.
Resident services are temporarily moving to the Ray Noah Municipal Court Building at at 2100 E. Campbell Road. The facility will be operational tomorrow (Wednesday Aug. 25). City Hall is expected to remain closed for several weeks.
According to city officials, once open, the site will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offer the following services:

Until the City’s regular permit request system is back online, requests for inspections can be made by e-mailing AskRichardsonBuildingInspection@cor.gov or calling the City’s temporary 24-hour Response Center line at 972-744-5690.

WATER BILL PAYMENTS ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
The fire at City Hall has impacted the City’s ability to process water bills and receive online water bill payments. Drive-thru payments for water bills are also not available.
Until further notice, there will be no late fees or other impacts to water service or service billing until the payment systems can be restored.
Questions related to water services, or to report an outage or water main leak or break, can be reported to the 24-hour Response Center’s temporary phone line at 972-744-5690.
BRUSH AND BULKY ITEM COLLECTION (BABIC) DELAYS
Online service outages related to the fire at City Hall include impacts to people trying to make online or mobile app requests for Brush and Bulky Item Collection (BABIC) services. Beginning tomorrow, crews will patrol collection zones to find locations where residents have placed material needing to be picked up.
Until further notice, residents DO NOT need to put in requests for BABIC services. Crews will automatically pick up acceptable material without requests for service.
