Dallas City Manager Evaluation Postponed

(WBAP/KLIF) — The Dallas City manager waits another week to learn his fate. Amid speculation that T.C. Broadnax may be fired or disciplined, Mayor Eric Johnson released a statement, Tuesday, indicating the city council will table plans to discuss the issue at Wednesday’s meeting.

Johnson said that the city manager’s performance evaluation will occur next week. Several city council members who had initially requested an executive session at Wednesday’s meeting have since asked to move the evaluation to the Ad Hoc Committee on Administrative Affairs special meeting tentatively slated for June 23rd. The evaluation was the result of concerns raised by a number of council members regarding Broadnax’s job performance.

Mayor Eric Johnson said “I do not mind taking another week to ensure my Dallas City Council colleagues can get comfortable with the process.” In addition, city council members Paula Blackmon, Cara Mendelsohn, and Gay Willis are also canceling their special-called Wednesday meeting.

Mayor Johnson: City manager’s evaluation will move to next week
DALLAS — Mayor Eric Johnson on Tuesday announced that the City Council will plan to proceed with the city manager’s performance evaluation and any related vote next week.

That means the mayor does not plan to go into executive session on the item that had been scheduled for Wednesday’s briefing meeting.

Several of the City Councilmembers who had initially asked the mayor to place the executive session item on the June 15 agenda have since expressed their desire to revert to the process planned by the Ad Hoc Committee on Administrative Affairs, which had tentatively called for a potential June 23 special-called meeting.

City Councilmembers Paula Blackmon, Cara Mendelsohn, and Gay Willis are also canceling their special-called meeting Wednesday in anticipation of the discussion next week.

“I do not mind taking another week to ensure my Dallas City Council colleagues can get comfortable with the process,” Mayor Johnson said. “I look forward to discussing our city’s direction and future next week.”
