(WBAP/KLIF) – Texas Governor Greg Abbott will visit the state’s southern border on Monday, days after a Federal Judge postponed the end of Title-42. The policy allows the U.S. to directly expel migrants during the COVID pandemic.
Governor Abbott will tour Texas National Guard and Texas Department of Public Safety border security assets after an aerial tour of the Texas-Mexico border in Eagle Pass. The Governor will be joined by DPS Director Steve McCraw and Adjutant General of Texas Maj. Gen. Thomas Suelzer.
“Another federal court announced today what we have known all along: President Biden is ignoring federal law with his open border policies,” said Governor Abbott. “While [Friday’s] court ruling rejecting President Biden’s ending of Title 42 expulsions is a positive development, hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants remain at our southern border ready to flood into Texas. Texas will continue utilizing all available resources and strategies to prevent this mass illegal migration, including the deployment of Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas National Guard resources, the coordination with Mexican border governors, and the activation of the Joint Border Security Operations Center. We remain vigilant in fighting the lifting of Title 42 expulsions.”
Following the tours, the Governor will hold a border security briefing to discuss Texas’ response to secure the border as President Biden ignores federal law with his open border policies.
