(WBAP/KLIF) — As the Biden Administration fails to enforce the “Remain in Mexico” policy ordered by the U.S. Supreme Court, tens of thousands of illegal immigrants continue to pour across the border into Texas. Governor Greg Abbott attempted to take control of the border situation, Friday, by signing legislation adding $2-billion in funding to “Operation Lone Star”.
Manny Ramirez with the Fort Worth Police Officers Association says the open border has inundated Texas communities with drugs, gang activity, and COVID-infected illegal migrants. Ramirez says the new law will give officers the needed resources to provide safety for Texans.
Abbott was in Fort Worth, Friday, to sign a bill into law which funds “Operation Lone Star”. House Bill 9 gives $2-billion to law enforcement operations aimed at securing the Texas border with mexico. Ramirez says drugs from the border have contributed to Tarrant County’s a 1,000% increase in drug overdoses over last year.
