DALLAS – (WBAP/KLIF) – In recognition of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on our nation, Thanks-Giving Square in Downtown Dallas will be open during normal hours and is available to the community as a place to convene individually or collectively.
Established in 1964 during a time of polarization paired with a yearning to create a better future for the city of Dallas, Thanks-Giving Square continues its purpose today to offer a free community space designed for reflection, transformation, healing and growth. While The Square is an available resource for the community to visit and be transformed any time, it is an especially significant location in times of tragedy and strife. As the community recognizes the anniversary, The Square is a resource for those seeking peace, healing and connection.
“As we remember the victims of these attacks, I encourage the community to also remember to express gratitude toward the first responders and heroes who stepped up to serve those in need on that horrifying day as well as those still on the frontlines of our ongoing challenges,” said Kyle Ogden, CEO and President of Thanks-Giving Square. “Gratitude can have a profound impact on healing, and we hope the community can find respite during their time at Thanks-Giving Square.”
Those visiting The Square are also invited to share their reflections through gratitude notes on the message board in the Chapel of Thanks-Giving. The Square’s Garden is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, and the Chapel of Thanks-Giving is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
