UPDATE: 08-22 9:50 AM – British military forces confirm seven Afghan citizens were crushed to death in the continuing pandemonium at the Kabul airport. The United States is calling on several U.S. airliners, including American Airlines of North Texas, to loan A TOTAL OF 18 Aircraft for the continuing evacuation effort. American and Delta Airlines are expected to loan the American government 3 planes each. The airline planes would ferry evacuees from the Middle East and Germany to other destinations; they will not be flying into Afghan territory.
ASSOCIATED PRESS – WBAP/KLIF – The American government is now warning Americans and Afghan citizens with papers to get aboard evacuating aircraft ISIS is now making threats on a level considered serious enough to tell citizens it is now NOT safe to travel to the evacuating airport of Kabul; to contact officials instead for very specific instructions on where to go to gather in small groups for collection by military personnel for escort to the Kabul airport.
Reporters indicate Americans outside the walls of the Kabul airport are increasingly facing trouble and some violence by Taliban fighters not allowing them inside the airport. It’s reported Americans outside those airport gates are now only getting in over the walls of the complex.
Arrangements are being made with other nations to take some of those people that are able to get on board aircraft and flown out of Afghanistan. Some flights have been going to Qatar, which was reported to have gotten overwhelmed with space for the evacuees, and some are going to Germany at the present time.
President Biden maintains no American will be left behind, but it remains unclear how many thousands of Americans are stuck in Kabul, or even further away from evacuation planes, in other towns and provinces. The State Department is urging Americans in Afghanistan to register with the government, so the U.S. knows where they are and that they require help getting out.
