ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF)- October 20th, 2020 is Game One of the World Series hosted in Arlington’s Globe Life Field.
Ron Price President and CEO of the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau says the MLB National League Championship Series and World Series has helped to recover the tourism industry and he’s happy to see an uptick at restaurants, hotels and retail stores.
“The fact that we are even able to have these events and spur some dollars rolling through our tourism economy, is so great for our city. The money goes back into the city to help our citizens and community,” said Price.
Price said since the games have started, he’s been getting calls from colleagues and citizens about new faces checking out Downtown Arlington. “They are so excited to see Dodgers fans walking around, checking out restaurants, shops and exploring our city,” said Price. “Not having that for a long time…it’s great to hear about the excitement of visitors coming to town,” he said.
Price said this puts Arlington on the World’s stage and will have a larger impact even after the games.
He said events like these are the catalysts for growth especially since Covid-19 has impacted tourism everywhere.
“These magnificent events in Arlington are ultimately going to have a great impact on our economy and even if it’s limited fans, it’s still better than the alternative that we have seen, which was none at all,” said Price.
Price said Globe Life Field has done everything to ensure the safety of fans and it’s allowed for more events in the coming months.
