Austin, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A growing number of protests are being staged across the U.S. to oppose stay-at-home orders amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Protesters rallied in Michigan on Wednesday; and Oklahoma, Ohio, Virginia and Texas on Thursday.
With chants of “Free Texas,” and “Make America Free Again,” about 50-60 people demonstrated outside the Texas Governor’s Mansion Demonstrators included small-small-government groups, supporters of President Donald Trump, anti-vaccine advocates and others have united behind a deep suspicion of efforts to shut down daily life to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Facebook user Leeland Freeland went live Thursday. He describes himself as an angry conservative filmmaker, investigative journalist, radio engineer, pilot and radio host.
Officials in some states express disappointment that the gatherings of people not wearing masks posed a risk to the public.
In the U.S. there are 678,210 confirmed cases of coronavirus; 34,641 people have died; of all cases 57,844 have recovered.
Across Texas the number of deaths caused by coronavirus has reached 414, the number of confirmed cases are approaching 17-thousand.
Meantime, Gov. Abbott is expected to release details later today (Friday) on plan to reopen Texas.
