ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF)- Crews are clearing debris from an Arlington neighborhood where strong winds ripped through the DFW Metroplex Sunday afternoon. The National Weather Service confirms an EF-1 Tornado touched down in Arlington with 95 mph winds. Ashley Zemanek lives on Andrews Street, just north of I-30, she said her home is completely un-livable and is now staying in a hotel. “It peeled the whole roof off and now it’s completely cave in, this whole front is completely flooded and my roof is about to cave in at any moment…it’s just devastating,” she said. “We are now just getting anything of value but I’m not sure if we will be able to live in this house again,” she said.
“We had some trees on our roof and all of our power lines were completely ripped.. they said it’ll take about a week to repair,” said another resident, Sherry Wolfenberger.
Tim Leckie is a project manager at a local roofing company. His company is repairing many roofs on Andrews St. He tells residents to take pictures for insurance agents before making any adjustments to your home. “Take pictures for record and in general, when you’re picking a contractor make sure they are licensed, local and not just a storm chaser,” he said.
National Weather Service Officials also say straight line winds caused damage in North Richland Hills and in the HEB area.
