Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Beware of rabid bats in North East Dallas. That’s the warning from Dallas Animal Services after two dead bats found in NE Dallas tested positive for rabies.
The first bat was found on the 7200 block of Coronado Avenue and a second bat was found at the 7500 block of Benedict Drive.
Animal Service Officers are currently working to notify citizens who live nearby to make sure no humans or pets were exposed to the bats. If you think you or your pet may have come in contact with the bats you’re being urged to seek medical attention immediately.
Signs of rabies in mammals include lethargy, fever, vomiting, anorexia, paralysis, seizures, abnormal behavior (ex. nocturnal animals appearing during the day, lack of fear of humans), aggressive behavior and foaming at the mouth.
