FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) — Some of the children being separated from their families at the Texas-Mexico border are being given refuge in Fort Worth.
Catholic Charities Fort Worth is housing a handful of the kids, though its unknown exactly how many that is. The non-profit has 26 beds available for refugees.
According to WFAA TV, working with the government to help refugees is something the organization does regularly. That, however, did not stop the Fort Worth Diocese from speaking out on the issue.
“The children have become tools in a way of forcing a foreign policy and enforcing the border and making a political statement,” said Bishop Michael Olson, speaking to WFAA.

Olson said what is happening at the border is wrong, and that separating kids from families “undermines the life and respect for legitimate authority.”
“This is a premeditated decision just to refuse everybody at first face,” Olson said.
