DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF NEWS) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has returned from a nine-day trip to India on a trade mission that took him to Mumbai, Bengaluru, Agra and New Delhi.
The Dallas Morning News accompanied the governor on the trip. While in New Delhi Abbott met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an hour and five minutes on Wednesday at Modi’s official residence. They discussed defense, terrorism, energy, technology, trade and health care.
Abbott called it a “historic meeting” and said he was “shocked” that the Prime Minister spent that much time with him. The meeting wasn’t even confirmed until early last week.
The governor said Texas businesses are able to expand the state’s economy through trade agreements and contracts with Indian companies.
