The former Archbishop of Dallas is making a trip from the Vatican to receive The 36th Annual Catholic Foundation Award Saturday night.
Matt Kramer, President of The Catholic Foundation says the now Cardinal Kevin Farrell was instrumental to help strengthen an ailing Catholic community when he arrived in 2007.
“He really brought hope, he brought change to the Catholic Church and sent us in a much better direction then what he received,” according to Kramer.
Membership in the Dallas diocese has grown from an estimated 200,000 in 1990 to now an estimated 1.2 million
