DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — The Dallas City Council is scheduled to hear from the mayor’s confederate task force Wednesday on what the city should do with its confederate monuments.
Mayor Mike Rawlings formed the 90-day task force in August following the events in Charlottesville when white supremacists hosted a “Unite the Right” rally.
Wednesday marks day 79 since Rawlings suggested the task force. The 90th day would be Sunday, November 12th.
The meeting Wednesday is a briefing session, similar to the one where the council voted in September to remove the Robert E. Lee statue at Oak Lawn Park. Votes typically cannot be taken in briefing sessions, except for ones that are deemed an emergency.
Nearly 40 people are signed up to speak at Wednesday’s session.
