(WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings is being targeted in a campaign to remove three Texas mayors from office.
‘This is Texas Freedom Force’ is an organization opposed to taking down confederate monuments. It held a rally in Dallas days after the Robert E. Lee statue was removed from Lee Park. The group’s Vice President, Brandon Berkhart, said Mayor Rawlings should have allowed citizens to decide the fate of the statue.
“I know they want to use Charlottesville as an excuse to say that they are trying to prevent that,” said Berkhart. “But have we had anything like that happen here in the State of Texas? No.”
Berkhart believes Rawlings wanted the statue down quickly in order to appease small interest groups. His organization is also calling for the removal of the Mayor’s of Houston and San Antonio. It plans to hold several rally’s and social media campaigns to encourage people to get out and vote when the Mayor’s are up for re-election.
