(WBAP/KLIF) One person has died after a vehicle plowed into a group of people marching through downtown Charlottesville, Virginia, injuring 19 others. Following the incident President Trump addressed the nation while on vacation in New Jersey saying: “We have to heal the wounds of our country.” Trump gave high praises to the State and Local Police of Virginia along with the National Guard & Federal Authorities saying they’ve been “working smart and working hard.” Trump added that: “whatever other assistance is needed we [the trump administration] are ready, willing and able.”
Reports indicate that the Nationalists were holding the rally to protest plans by the city of Charlottesville to remove a Statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee.
Update: Officials now say that the deaths of two people in a helicopter crash that took place near Charlottesville, Virginia, has been linked to the violent white nationalist rally earlier in the day.
It was not immediately clear how the crash was connected to the rally; Corinne Geller, a Virginia State Police spokeswoman, says the pilot and a passenger were killed in the crash Saturday afternoon.
The crash happened just a few hours after a car plowed into a crowd of people peacefully protesting against the white nationalist rally. One person was killed and at least two dozen were hurt.
