Plano (WBAP/KLIF News) – Developers have broken ground on a 27 story building that will become the tallest residential building in Collin County. Windrose Tower will be part of the Legacy West development in Plano.
“It’s a beautiful opportunity to live in Plano,” says Mayor Harry LaRosiliere. “You can live, work and play all in one area.”
The project will include about 100 condos. Windrose Tower will also be built with a recreation area on the fourth floor that will include putting greens, a pool and bar.
“This is what we’ve been working toward for the past two years,” says developer Jim Duggan. “It’s exciting.”
Duggan says Legacy West has helped Plano become an urban center.
“You can walk to a restaurant, you can do it all here,” he says. “I didn’t realize it would happen this quick in Plano, but eventually any suburb in a large, growing metropolitan area becomes part of the urban core of the city.”
“It’s creating a walkable and less congested environment,” LaRosiliere says.
The building should open in two years. Duggan says about half of the condos have already been sold.
