Houston (WBAP/KLIF) – A federal class action lawsuit has been filed against Uber by a group of its Texas drivers. The 19 drivers in Dallas, Houston, and Austin want to be classified as employees of Uber, not the independent contractors Uber insists they are. Their lawsuit says Uber maintains such control over all their activities that the independent contractor claim is absurd. They also say that control makes it virtually impossible for an Uber driver to earn anywhere near the $100,000 a year that Uber asserts in its promotional driver recruiting campaigns. Uber already faces similar lawsuits in Massachusetts, Illinois, and California.
