DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Dallas County is offering free HIV testing today as part of a national day to recognize staying safe.
Today is National HIV Testing Day, so the county will have its mobile STD Center open from 11:00-4:00 at 3217 West Camp Wisdom Road.
And it’s not a moment too soon.
Dallas County Health and Human Services says the number of people in the county living with HIV and AIDS went up 56 percent last year, including a rise in positive tests for kids 13-18.
The AIDS Healthcare Foundation says that specific age group didn’t see the devastation caused by the disease in the 1980’s and 1990’s, and that it’s important for them to be tested and educated.
