ARLINGTON, TX (WBAP/KLIF News) — Police in Arlington have arrested a suspect found to have 1,000 ecstasy pills in colors and shapes resembling children’s vitamins.
Acting on a tip from a suspect in an unrelated case investigators tracked down the alleged drug dealer and found the pills during a traffic stop.
Arlington Police Department spokesman Steve Bartolotta said these types of pill forms of illicit drugs haven’t been seen for awhile though they were popular during the 1980s, often manufactured in the Netherlands, Europe, China and other countries in Asia.
Eduardo Chavez, assistant special agent in charge of the Dallas office of the North Texas Drug Enforcement Agency told the Star-Telegram the machines that create these fanciful pills have become difficult to buy. “It may be that a distributor has gotten hold of a tablet machine and that’s why you are seeing these,” Chavez said. “The bad thing is the purchaser has no idea what they are getting. There is no quality control with these guys.”
The suspected dealer is not being named at this time.
