FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) — If you’re on the fence about adopting a new pet, this may be the weekend to do it.
The Fort Worth Animal Care and Control Center is doing $10 adoptions all weekend, because the shelter is filling up this time of year.
“We have a lot of puppies, we have a lot of kittens, we have a lot of adult dogs, we have a lot of adult cats,” said Alan Davis of Fort Worth Animal Control. “Part of that comes with the breeding season that goes along with that.”
He added that the number of animals in their shelter typically goes up as summer progresses. Davis says the Fort Worth shelter has roughly 600 dogs and 90 cats in need of adoption.
The shelter is open from noon to 6:00 pm all weekend. They’re also hosting the special at two satellite locations — the PetSmart locations at Hulen and Alliance.
“This is a way to give back to our community, by reducing the fee to $10 to adopt pets,” Davis said. “Hopefully individuals are looking to find [these pets] a forever home.”
