(WBAP/KLIF)–Home prices around the Metroplex are for the first time higher than the national median. According to the National Association of Realtors quarterly home price survey, the median price for a house in the DFW area is $236,500, $4,400 more than the national median of $232,100.
For the first quarter of 2017, home prices are 12.6 percent higher than they were in 2016.
Among the major Texas cities, the DFW area had the most growth. Home prices in Houston went up 6.9 percent, 6.2 percent in Austin and 3.6 percent in San Antonio.
Across the country, the largest first-quarter gain in median household price was in Cumberland, West Virginia, they’re experiencing 21.4 percent increase.
