A man is in stable condition after being shot by a Dallas Police Officer when he tried to grab the Officer’s taser.
Assistant Dallas Police Chief Randy Blakenbaker said officer’s were serving a warrant on a woman in Pleasant Grove when they were approached by a man who had been inside a parked car with the woman. The man then fought an officer for his taser and was shot by the officer who feared the man could grab his handgun next.
“If a suspect is able to gain control of [the taser] then their weapon becomes available to them,” Blakenbaker said.
The woman was arrested on the warrant and the man was taken to a local hospital.
“The suspects wounds to my best understanding were abdominal in nature,” Blakenbaker said. “We’re just being told that he’s in stable condition.”
