DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) If you thought the proposed Texas bullet train was going to be fast, another company says it can get you to South Texas even faster. Hyperloop One is a private transportation company holding in an international competition. Teams around the world are competing with their plans for projects to have hyperloop systems built. The Texas team wants to build an L-shaped tube between Dallas and Houston with stops in Austin and San Antonio. It says the Dallas – Austin trip would be shorter than 20 minutes, or 6 seconds per mile. Passengers would sit inside a pod, then travel at 700 miles per hour inside a tube powered by magnets that levitates the pod as it accelerates through the tube. There will be three U.S. winners. The Texas route was just named one of 11 finalists. If the Lone Star State is chosen, the hyperloop could be in operation in 2021.
