DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Additional staff members are scheduled through the weekend as the City of Dallas tries to figure out why some T-Mobile customers can’t get through to 911.
Dallas Police Deputy Chief Jesse Reyes says they have a system in place for the next few days.
“We have our regularly scheduled employees plus the additional call takers plus about a dozen additional employees to call us, or to help us make these call backs if necessary,” said Reyes.
The City would not say how many people regularly take the calls for public safety reasons.
During a conference call with reporters Friday, the City suggested reporters make open records requests and could not further explain what the problem is outside of the fact that they are investigating.
T-Mobile has agreed to have personnel in place until the problem is resolved.
There are questions as to whether a six-month-old baby died because of the 911 on-hold problem. A second person came forward claiming his loved-one also died because he could not get through.
