Dallas (WBAP/KLIF News) – Dallas police say they will be enforcing the city’s curfew when kids are on Spring Break next week. Dallas adopted the curfew in 1994.
“It’s not just for Spring Break, it’s throughout the whole year,” says Lieutenant Michael Woodbury. “We feel this is an opportunity to focus on the curfew, to instill that as a reminder to the parents.”
The curfew in Dallas runs from 11 pm to six am. Any kids who are out in those hours must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, going to or from work or responding to an emergency.
Woodbury says the curfew protects kids as much as anyone else.
“They become victims,” Woodbury says. “Not only do we want them to know where their kids are so their kids aren’t up to no good, but we don’t want them to become victims. Unfortunately, that, often, is the case.”
Kids, parents and business owners can be cited for breaking the curfew. The fine $500.
