(WBAP/KLIF News) NASA has just announced the discovery of seven Earth-like planets outside our solar system. The planets are all in the same system and 3 of them are considered to possibly contain life. Nikole Lewis is an astronomer at the NASA-operated Space Telescope Science Institute. She says the system is 40 light years away, so unreachable just now, but possible with some advancements in travel technology. The planets orbit a “cool dwarf star,” which have longer lives than our sun but would make the daytime sky a very different color than Earth’s sky. The planets are considered to be young, so Lewis says life there would likely consist of basic organisms if any at all. Astronomers will continue to study the system from Earth with telescopes to look for gases that would be an indicator of life present. Listen to the entire interview with Nikole Lewis here.
