DENTON COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF News) – Northwest ISD school trustees have approved a plan to go forward with a $399 million dollar bond package to address the needs of the rapidly growing district. Administrators expect the district to take in an additional 6,200 students during the next 5 years. Much of the money will go toward building three new elementary schools and the expansions of two high schools and two junior high campuses.
Plans also call for the construction of a district wide aquatic center and new outdoor field houses for Byron Nelson and Northwest High Schools.
The district currently operates 28 campuses over three counties – Denton, Tarrant and Wise. The measure will be put before voters May 6th.
