Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF News) – Fort Worth’s Christmas tree has arrived and has been placed in its stand in Sundance Square Plaza. The blue spruce from Michigan is 57 feet tall.
“We literally had it hauled in and did a little bit of trimming last night to get ready to stand it up,” says Sundance Square Chief Executive Officer Johnny Campbell.
The tree will be lit Saturday evening. Fort Worth’s Parade of Lights follows on Sunday.
“It’s a great group of people who live downtown, this is their backyard, but this is also the backyard of everybody in Ft. Worth,” says City Councilwoman Ann Zadeh. “We encourage people to come from all parts of the city to hang out in this fantastic plaza to enjoy the tree and all the businesses.”
Zadeh says seasonal lighting along Seventh Street Bridge and Lancaster Avenue make downtown feel more inviting.
The tree will be lit with LED bulbs. Campbell says Green Mountain Energy is providing 100% renewable power for the tree.
“This is a great time for us all to celebrate the holiday season together,” Campbell says. “We hope that it gives us a great, positive mood to end the year.”
