FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – Students are returning to school Monday, but there has been no ruling on how schools will handle transgender bathrooms.
The case between the State of Texas and the Department of Justice was heard by a federal judge in Fort Worth ten days ago.
The state argued that President Barack Obama overstepped his bounds when he issued a directive that said schools should allow students to use bathrooms and locker rooms that correspond to their gender identity.
Judge Reed O’Conner said he did not have a timetable for his decision, but he expected to rule before the school year started.
